Scoring/Shooting:

At 32 Most of Vince Carter's elite athleticsm remains. Not as reliant on the spectacular play as earlier in his career he has complemented it by developing into a very good shooter. He can hit spot up jumpers and can shoot them off the dribble but has a tendency to fade away and force them occasionally. Still gets to the line at a high rate though preferring to drive right. Probably would have more trips to the line but the Nets became dependent on Devin Harris getting to the lane and setting up jumpers. Very good free throw shooter. Solid in the pick and roll. Takes an above average amount of threes but at a good 38.5% clip. Despite sometimes questionable shots stilll very efficient. Should remain an elite scorer with his solid shooting and incredibly versatile offensive game.

Rebounding:

Overall an average rebounder. Vince is surprisingly not a good offensive rebounder considering his jumping ability and is actually a very good defensive rebounder with good feel and solid hands.

Passing/Ballhandling:

Probably the most underrated part of Vince's game is his solid passing ability. Is an excellent drive and kick player and a decent entry passer. Creates shots for others and can even handle the point in a pinch. Sports an excellent 2.2 Assist to Turnover ratio.

Defense:

Vince can be a lazy defender at times but is more than capable and has shown flashes of stopper capabilities. When determined is a very good on ball defender with good lateral quickness. Has trouble with screens and takes chances in the lane trying to make plays without it leading to many turnovers. Uses his good strength to be a passable post defender. Should be better and more consistent on defense but this is the case with many players who are relied on to produce offensively.

Intangibles:

Vince has a reputation for being a poor player in the clutch and for a lack of toughness. His game is aggressive for the most part but he still manages to give of an impression of being laid back. However hasn't been a problem with the Nets playing hard with no complaints. Seems to have shed the whiny label he had previously and hit many clutch shots for the Nets. Quietly developing as a leader.

Synopsis:

Vince Carter is still an all star caliber player with no standout weaknesses. It will be interesting to see how things work out with the Magic. He'll be asked to fill Hedo Turkoglu's shoes as a shot creator but his underrated shooting should lead to some easy points in Orlando's offense. He has a chance to solidify himself as a hall of fame candidate by just being an important part on a potential championship team.
