Yao Ming the Star of the 2002 Draft

Yao Ming post plays

While Ming the first pick in the 2002 has never been the revolutionary
player that some predicted but he is far from the stiff that more
seemed to predict. The nice thing about Yao is that he is a terrific
player and no one can ever say that he was a poor choice for the
Rockets.

Ming is one of only 4 all stars from that draft.

Amare Stoudemire at #9, Caron Butler at #10 and Carlos Boozer at #34.

In a very poor draft Jay Williams went at #2 and Dujuan Wagner at #6.
Brandon Roy declared for the 2002 draft out of High School but withdrew
his name. That worked out well for him.

Check out this Yao Ming Scouting Report before the 2002 Nba Draft.

Rockets Yao Ming out for the season

Well another year another injury.
Yao is out for the season with a stress fracture in his left foot. The Rockets a perfect 12-0 this month no longer appear to be a viable threat in the Western Conference.
The Rockets have played well without Ming in the past but with Tracy McGrady no longer playing at his previous superstar level and prone to injury himself, it will take a Kobe Bryant like effort to keep the Rockets afloat. Right now they may be the least likely of the top nine in the conference to make the playoffs.
Yao was averaging 22 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks. Yao was shooting 50.7% from the floor and 85% from the line.and the Rockets have won 12 straight games.
